Defund ACORN!

Whereas Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and their hundreds of subsidiaries and sister organizations have consistently demonstrated a complete disregard for federal and state laws, the integrity of the ballot, the principle of "one citizen, one vote," the sacredness and value of American citizenship, and basic principles of decency.

Whereas ACORN has consistently shown a willingness to use the vulnerable in our society to advance their political agenda, proclaimed by their own founders as an effort to overwhelm the American political and economic system to the point of collapse.

Whereas America's political leaders - both Democratic and Republican - clearly need the citizens' common sense help as they have proven wholly unable to control spending and runaway deficits.

As an American citizen I do hereby support a complete ban on the use of any tax dollars - federal, state, or local - to support ACORN or any of their affiliates either directly or indirectly. This ban includes the use of taxpayer dollars to fund organizations, public or private, who partner with ACORN in any way (whether they aid ACORN or accept aid from ACORN). I respectfully request a complete and transparent accounting and public disclosure by any government entity that has provided direct or indirect funding to ACORN for any purpose in the last five years and an immediate freeze on any further public payments to ACORN, even if previously authorized, including funding designated in the federal stimulus package known as TARP. Based on ACORN's well-established and broad scale pattern of corruption, I further request that the relevant public investigative bodies (Office of Inspector General in Federal agencies, State Attorneys General, Secretaries of State, etc.) conduct thorough investigations and, where appropriate, prosecutions of ACORN based on complaints and evidence that has been filed with regard to fraud in voter registration, elections, housing, IRS, or other potential criminal activity.

Finally, I pledge that I will not vote in support of a political candidate at any level of government from any political party who does not also sign this pledge and commit to abide by it in every way.
